01: Go to GSS Data Explorer and click the button “Search Variables”.
02: Type keyword grass
in the filter field and replace “Years” and “to” field with the period 2016
. Then click on the “Search” button.
03: Select variable (left) and click in the same line into the “+ Add to myGSS” button (right) The button changes to “Added”.
04: Repeat this procedure for the other variables. In our case age
.
05: To decide which variable you need you can inspect “Associated Questions”.
06: Open the menu “Extract” and click “Create Extract”.
07: Name you extract and click “Next”
08 Your extract is pre-filled with standard variables.
09: Click “Remove all” if you don’t need the pre-filled variables.
10: Add variables. “Respondent ID Number” is mandatory and added automatically.
11: Select (again) years: (At the start page sometimes I got always all years) I chose the data to export as Excel file.
12: Scroll down and click “Create Extract”
13: Wait some time and click periodically “Refresh” to check if your extract is finished.
14: After processing is finished scroll down to see if the extract was completed successfully.
15: Select your extract(s) and choose “Actions->Download (or export it to Google Drive or Dropbox). — Voilá!
